While painting my lyrical expressionistic canvases, I don’t use any sketch or preconceived plan. In painting thus, there is only colour, shape and structure. When I’am working I use senses rather than brains. I let things develop from a cycle of action and reaction. That’s my way of painting. I let myself be inspired by nature, by memories, by travel experiences etc.
When I consider my paintings of the last few years, it is clearly seen, that besides this dynamic way of painting I developed a different working method. I started every now and then working according to a certain plan and got fascinated by a combination of dynamic elements and flat coloured areas.
These combinations, from different conceptions in art history, do not only fascinate while painting, I like the results. The contrast between lyrical and geometric parts generates dynamic harmony.
When finished a canvas has a spirit. It's not only paint on a canvas. When a spectator gets taken with it, he steps into a different world, my world. It recalls something that he or she feels within him-/herself.
I had exhibitions in Germany and Switserland and a lot in the Netherlands. My work is part of many private and industrial collections in the Netherlands as well as abroad.
